Taughannock Falls 138
At the start of the trail a tease or prelude to the main attraction.
A stair step waterfall in a “L” Shape. A unique and interesting waterfall that I counted 8 small falls with a small pool below.
Being early fall the water level was low due to shortage of rain. It still was amazing the different ways the water would run over the rocks and the falls have one in front and one from the side combing together at the bottom of the rock, with it own miniature gorge.
Do you like the waterfall even though it is only ten foot tall? If you like the pictures with stories stay with me till the end.
Taughannock Falls 331
Walking the trails enjoying, the glimpse of the gorge and trees. An opening appeared and I saw some ripples. I was thinking what do we have here?
I walked down to the river and seen a rock with a small tree taken root in it. Defying all odds of surviving with the upcoming winter snow and spring rains capable of washing the tree away.
Will it be able to survive? Can you imagine the power of the Heavy Rains that come washing down river bed? I have seen the water rise up to the walking trail about 5 feet.
Taughannock Falls 163
After walking 1/2 mile on the paved trail. There was a bench with a scenic view of the gorge and river.
It was inviting as saying come sit and enjoy the view and make some memories.
I took up the offer and enjoyed looking at the side of the gorge with all the different colored layers of rocks and enjoying the sounds of nature.
Taughannock Falls 174
Walking the paved trail, I seen a few people walking in the creek. I found an easy path to get to the river. The view was amazing.
The view of the gorge cliffs on one side and the other side with trees on the on the other side with the water flowing.
Hard to Imagine how it was created the sheer power of the water, and a peaceful view.
Taughannock Falls 241
Walking on the main paved trail rounding a bend the sound of nature is starting to be drowned out.
The sound of rushing water hitting the ground pounding with fierce force, that there is a fine mist in the air.
Awe inspiring of the height of the falls. Not as wide as Niagara Falls, but 33 feet taller.
During the snow melting and the spring rains, the power it has to cut in to the Rocks and slowly over years to keep moving up the river.
If you like waterfalls follow me in my travels with more beautiful areas to see here in the U.S. and overseas.
Taughannock Falls 283
After seeing an awe-inspiring view, you would think that was the finale. When walking away from the falls you see another view.
The gorge and looking up the sheer side of it. You catch a glimpse of light.
You start looking hard and you see, the overlook 300 feet above. Thinking now I have to go up there and see the view.
Taughannock Falls 34
Pulled in to the overlook Parking area and seen the Park office with nice items to purchase and picked up a few items.
Just 25 yards away is the overlook of the Taughannock Falls. Looking down into the Gorge you see the Waterfall.
A wow moment... thinking of the sheer power it took and the years to create such a feat.
Watching from above the setting sun, putting on an array of changing colors.
A fitting end for a day of memories. Follow me for more Dramatic and Peaceful Waterfalls and Trails from the World.
